Koh San Road for more down to earth Fun!
Khao San Road is a unique strip described as a backpacker mecca, a description this is no longer accurate as it is visited by a wide variety of tourists, most of whom are no longer backpackers. The street itself and the surrounding area feature numerous restaurant, bars, hotels, shops, and entertainment, especially during the night when the entire neighborhood comes alive. It represents the most concentrated tourist area in Thailand and has something to offer to everyone from, Souvenirs, t-shirt, street food, Clubs, beer, and performers.
Let’s hop in a Tuk Tuk and go there!
Here are five things that we love about this electrifying stripe!
1: ‘Crunchy Snack’ Street Vendors EVERYWHERE!
Ha ha ha, you thought I was referring to some sort of delicious exotic Thai treats, didn’t you? Well, they’re exotic animals alright. Bugs snack carts seem to be everywhere on Koh San Road. Leads one to think that these little buggers might actually be quite tasty! However, will wait after number 5 before I put one near my mouth,
2: Shopping and Bargaining, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR THAT!
Tip: The best time to embark on a Khao San shopping spree? Well, unless you want to end up bad tempered and dripping sweat, go in the evening. Not only is it cooler, but the range of things on sale also becomes even more intriguing (except on Mondays). From dusk onwards, creative, baby-faced Thais come and sprawl out on the ground everything from funky hair accessories and exotic blouses to one-off T-shirts and vintage clothing. Many of these items are lovingly crafted by their own tender hands.
3: Get A Massage
think that if you speak to KSR itself, it’s going to be mostly smaller shops and such. I can’t think of any that are constantly notable or receive lots of accolades. If you’re willing to expand your scope, I’d suggest you consider Wat Po massage, arguably one of the cities most famous massage places– and also a formal massage school.
